Animal Healthcare P.C. Participates in Holiday Food Drive

Many families come together during the family season in order to celebrate life and love, and to give thanks for everything that they have. It is a time to celebrate the joy of giving, to experience great happiness and laughter, to reflect upon past successes and plan for a prosperous future. It is an unfortunate fact that there are many individuals around us who simply do not experience the wonders of the holiday season, because they lack the basic wherewithal that is necessary for them to support themselves and their families. Feeding America has reported that more than forty-eight million Americans lived in “food insecure” homes in 2014. In other words, about fourteen percent of American households did not have sufficient food in order to lead a normal, healthy life.

It’s a sad fact that many individuals in our country suffer from insufficient income, devastating illnesses, debilitating injuries or other conditions that force them to do without the basic necessities that most individuals simply take for granted. Because of this, these individuals must rely on the generous donations of others in order to receive daily meals, let alone true holiday meals. Since giving to others is the driving spirit of the holiday season, it is a perfect time for individuals to do something as simple as donating food to those who are less fortunate.

Located roughly thirty miles west of Chicago in Naperville, Illinois, Animal Health Care P.C. is a full service animal hospital that takes great pride in providing the absolute best service to pet owners and their beloved pets. Veterinarians at Animal Health Care P.C., led by Dr. Raymond Bishop and aided by caring and dedicated staff, can treat a wide variety of health conditions and issues ranging from emergency cases to less urgent medical, surgical and dental issues. A pet’s overall health and well-being is very important to the Animal Health Care P.C. veterinarians and staff, and they eagerly invite questions and provide clients with numerous resources in order to help them become better informed about how to best take care of their pet. Dr. Bishop states, “My staff are more interactive with the clients to work within the pet’s best interest. It’s the client who is responsible for the at-home care of the pet so we want to support that as best we can. We partner with clients to provide the best service in order to support a pet’s overall health and longevity. Our goal is to keep them pain free and healthy, so preventative medicine is extremely important to us.”

Because a community is as strong as it can pull together and support each other through difficult times and situations, helping to provide for families in need during the holiday season is a community responsibility. Animal Health Care P.C. wishes to do their part, and to that end they have organized a food drive that will benefit Loaves and Fishes. Loaves and Fishes provides many valuable services to residents of Naperville and surrounding communities, not the least of which is food. Thanks to many generous donations from over one thousand volunteers and support organizations, Loaves and Fishes is able to distribute over sixty thousand pounds of food to roughly six hundred families every single week.

Loaves and Fishes is of the opinion that ample food is not a privilege, but rather a basic human right. Animal Health Care P.C. agrees wholeheartedly, and is happy to have the opportunity to support this organization and the community during the holiday season.

Animal Health Care P.C. hopes to collect at least three hundred pounds of food on behalf of Loaves and Fishes by the end of December. Needed food items include canned vegetables and fruit, peanut and other nut butters, canned soups and canned proteins. Donations of pet food are also greatly needed. There is no donation too small, and every donation is greatly appreciated.
